Here at the Jisc / Apereo LAK16 Hackathon in Edinburgh we have a group of very talented and motivated people from around the world, beavering away to produce things like new visualisations of learning analytics, and a “personal learning locker” so students can take their learning records with them.
One of the key technologies which is facilitating the development of learning analytics systems is the Experience API – or xAPI. To find out more about this technology, I took time out from the conference to chat to Aaron Silvers, President of the Data Interoperability Standards Consortium, which is driving the development of the xAPI specification.
In this 15 minute podcast I ask Aaron about his organisation, what xAPI is, what the challenges are with it, and where it’s heading next.
