Cognitively the size of the page is linked to the nature of the contents. Even the Romans and Greeks knew the difference between small graffiti and large epic inscriptions.

Small screens confine (try going back to a 12&quot; from 24&quot;!) - pages with even small readable type give the mind space to expand thought. Technology does not change human behaviour as much as you make out, especially when it comes to concentrated learning and data absorption.

Your comments may just still apply to the increasingly-popular 10&quot; netbook and the future A4 flexi-, kindle-type surface, but never the pocket-type iPhone.</description>
